Our training programs are designed to equip law enforcement professionals with the knowledge and skills to implement restorative justice practices effectively. We offer specialized coaching and consultation tailored to various levels of experience with restorative justice within the law enforcement community.

Foundations

Dried Clay

Our foundational workshop series provides an introduction to restorative justice principles and their application in law enforcement settings. Participants at the executive leadership level will gain valuable insights and practical strategies to initiate positive change within their organizations.

Formations

Shaping Pottery

Building on the Foundations series, Formations expands to include additional leaders and managers, fostering a culture of accountability, empathy, and collaboration. Participants will gain essential tools to drive meaningful organizational change utilizing law enforcement-specific restorative justice practices.

Peer Support Development to include:

  • Facilitating two circles with full Peer Support

  • T4T on circle facilitation for Peer Support (4 hour, max of 15)

1) Introduction to Restorative Justice (RJ) for Executive Team (2 hours):

This is the foundational training for Executive Leadership to gain a basic understanding of the concepts of restorative justice and how it may be applied to business practices.

 

​2) Introduction to RJ  (4 hours)

​This is the foundational training for all line officers, staff, and supervisors to gain a basic understanding of the concepts of restorative justice and how to apply them to your Agency.​

​

3) RJ and Supervisors (2 hours) 

This training builds on the Intro to RJ training and is tailored to Supervisors and how they can implement RJ within their teams.  Topics of this training may include: how to hold staff meetings, provide individual supervision with RJ, case planning, managing personnel matters, coaching officers on use of RJ in decision making.

Prerequisite: Introduction to RJ

4) Restorative Conflict Management (4 hours)

This training is designed for employees at all level to utilize and understand how RJ is used to manage conflict whether it is with a colleague, supervisor, supervised, or client.  Topics include: identifying harm and the associated underlying need, listening and reflection skills, scenarios, and role plays.

Prerequisites: Introduction to RJ.

5) RJ Early Adopter Circles (4 hours)

This training is an introduction to Circle Facilitation and the issues that may arise.  This is designed to support employees (at all levels) who have adopted the principles of RJ and would like to learn more about how RJ can be used in their day to day work.  

 

Topics include: role of the facilitator, components and sequence of a circle, how to prepare for circle, distinguishing difference between community building circle and restorative conferencing, how to respond when there is a denial of responsibility, sample scripts and facilitation guide, a variety of role play, circles of support for early adopters.

Prerequisites: Introduction to RJ

6) Policy Review (hours vary)

This service RJNLE will review policies and procedures to provide suggestions on how RJ principles could be incorporated.  This may also include drafting of forms and templates.

​

7) Train the Trainer (T4T) (8 hours)

This T4T course will prepare your staff for additional RJ support at your Agency and will include active learning, lesson planning, practice and coaching

​

8) Developing restorative case planning (hours vary)

This service will ensure officers are experts in conducting case planning sessions in circle with the case planning team.

 

 9) Handling Violations of Probation with RJ (hours vary)

This service will ensure officers understand how to handle violations of probation through restorative case planning sessions in circle with the case planning team.

​

10) Restorative Mentor programs (hours vary)

This service will help you  build capacity for the use of RJ in your Agency with both staff and clients.
